Now Trying The Manifest Theme
Simple is as simple does. But unlike some other simple themes, this one fills the browser space and looks like the Feng Shui fairy has sprinkled her good stuff on it.
It’s staying!

The Ampersand Test – The & Test
This is a test to see how the & renders on the web.
I saw this Evidens theme used by Jon Log, the famous person.
I liked it so much I went to the Evidens creator and imported it here.
It is widget-ready and it works with WP 2.8.4
I have now worked my way through several themes, and I feel that I have arrived at one that is satisfying in every way. It has these qualities:
I am interested in Haworth and the Brontes, living not far from the village. There is an article about the Bronte sisters at Quillcards Ecards – just follow the link to the blog and then browse through the articles.
And there is a website devoted to the village of Haworth here and a site devoted to the Bronte country and the Bronte sisters here.
UPDATE TO THIS POST
I thought I might like Hiperminimalist, but in the end I decided it looked a bit too minimal – so back to Simpla 101, which is what you can see here now.
POST
I just switched to the Hiperminimalist theme, which certainly lives up to its name.
This means, of course that the Simpla 101 theme is no longer on view.
I am now using the Simpla 101 Theme from HiredWordpressExperts. I have changed the colors, typeface, and tyeface point size. I also changed the wrapper dimension to increase the distance between this, the main part of the page, and the sidebar.
So the theme has changed from a fairly bright and colorful theme to the sedate version it is now.
I should mention that I am running Wordpress 2.8.4 which is, as of the time of writing, the latest version of Wordpress.
Note: I had to change the dimensions on the photo of the tulips in the post below because it was far too big to fit this theme. It’s now down to 450×300 pixels.
I’ve changed this to the Typebased theme and I think I might use this site to showcase photographs of flowers.
Ah, Typebased is no good for photos as the width of the column is too narrow to show even a 500 pixel photo, and I don’t want to mess about with the CSS without some belief that it is going to be worth the effort, so – back to Choice for the moment.
So let’s see how wide images the Choice theme will take. Here’s one at 700 pixels wide. And after seeing it on the page, it looks like it can display up to about 765 wide.

Now testing a theme that looks very pleasing to me. It is a free theme called Choice and it is available HERE
It has a file called config.php with options that allow you to choose whether the theme background color is light or dark; whether the theme text weight is muted or bold; whether the theme heading color is green, blue, or orange; whether there are one or two sidebars; and whether the designer’s slogan is displayed.
If you don’t feel confident about altering the options in config.php, there is a config.php generator on the themelab site, where you can check off your choices and watch the file being made.
This is a test site for the purpose of looking at the features of various Wordpress themes. The first theme I am testing is the Hybrid theme.
It is available HERE.
So far I have altered the background image by taking out the schematic drawing that fills it and I have replaced it with the standard color that is in the image, which is #242d36.
I have also changed the font of the title and the description to Verdana and changed the description from italic to normal font.
And I have imported the Flickr RSS feed from one of my flickr accounts and the images shown up in the sidebar.
This is a snap of what this site looks like with Hybrid.
